Kiaora and welcome to Room 11, here at Balmacewen Intermediate. I hope you have had a great holiday break.

My full name is Billy Napier and this is my 2nd full year teaching at Balmacewen. However I have spent a lot of time here teaching in the past, which has made me really enjoy working at this school.

I know that we will have a great year in 2010 because I will be working hard to plan interesting and exciting activities for you. I hope to make sure that you have a classroom environment that is not only fun but a place you want to be in. I have very high expectations in all aspects of our classroom. This means I expect you to do your best at all times, to keep up to date with all class leaning and home-tasks, and most importantly to develop the maturity and social skills to respect yourself, others and the class environment.

You will have lots of opportunities to join some sports teams and take part in cultural activities like choir, music and the Kapa Haka group. Make the most of these activities as they are a great way to get to know other people from other classes and are heaps of fun. Ask me if there is anything in particular that you want to join. Many students are often too shy to join up and wished they had. So don’t miss out.

Term 1 is going to be a very busy term, for example we have swimming beginning soon and we will be heading to Waihola for a three day camp on Monday 15th March! A letter regarding cost, times and an indication of parent help will be sent home within the next day or two. We also have a school “Meet the Teacher” night on Wednesday 10th February. This gives parents the opportunity to meet me and the view our classroom.

By now you will have had a wee look around the school, and have started to make some new friends. Remember that if you are having any problems don’t hesitate to come and see me as, I understand it can be a little overwhelming! I look forward to getting to know you all better over the rest of the term and to having an awesome year in Room 11.

Mr Napier
